Dressing a New Body: Stitch Fix

Have you heard of Stitch Fix?

I will fully admit I am no fashionista. I haven’t worn matching socks since 5th grade and a messy bun means I have made effort with my hair. Now that I have a wee one, I feel like I have to be a bit more presentable because she is so darn cute. And I’m a mom, but that doesn’t mean I need to wear mom jeans and such. (I will wear my ugly Christmas sweaters and vests- I don’t care what you say!)
I need a new wardrobe, but I really don’t like shopping and I don’t have time between working and taking care of little bit to go and try on tons of clothing.
This is where Stitch Fix comes in. I paid $20.00 for someone else to pick out a box of clothing and get it sent to my house based on a style profile I completed. Each piece arrives with a tag that shows you a dressed up and dressed down way to wear the piece.

I totally would model these awesome pieces for you, but I am beyond self-concious right now and in no mood to be a model. Maybe my next box I will get all dolled up for!

I can’t keep it all, but I think I might keep the earrings and one of the sweaters. I wish the dress had fit my post-baby body better. I would have worn it every.single.day it was so soft!

If you decide to get an awesome Stitch Fix box, please use my referral link. I will love you forever!

Project Millie's Life: Week Six

Week SIX! This means I am all caught up on blogging Millie’s ablum (until I’m behind again tomorrow)! Last week we celebrated Halloween and Millie’s great-Papaw’s birthday.

It has been a long, emotional week, but we are hanging in there and hopefully will create some sort of pattern soon.

Project Millie's Life: Week Five

During week five I had to call in backup. My incision had some issues healing and I needed some help with Millie. Mamaw Minick came to stay and Millie loved all of the snuggles she was given. I am so thankful that Millie has so many grandparents and great-grandparents. There is never a shortage of arms to hold her! (Well maybe at 3 a.m.- haha!)

I feel like today is my first day of school with all of the preparations and planning that went into getting ready last night. Hi Ho Hi Ho it’s back to work I go!

Project Millie’s LIfe: Week Four

Week four of Millie’s life started off with a visit from Auntie Allison, who is spoiling Millie already with adorable clothes (skinny jeans and babies make me laugh!) and the best nightlight ever. (Note to self: The nightlight justifies it’s own post eventually!) Millie’s funny faces really picked up in week four and she started smiling as a response to my voice and being on the changing table in addition to right before a big diaper blowout. So sweet!

Happy Friday!!!

Thankful Thursday: The One Where I Ramble...

Last year, I kept a log on Facebook of things I was thankful for each day in November. Thankfulness grew in my heart throughout the month and I was determined to keep a Gratitude journal in 2012. Then life happened, and I didn’t follow through. (Imagine that!)

This year I think I will keep track of my thoughts here and I am sure my Facebook friends will be grateful that I have chosen to leave them out of this! It goes without saying that I have much to be thankful for: a new home, my wonderful family, and so much more.

This week I am thankful for timing and being prepared. When I left work for maternity leave, I was uncertain if I would be able to return to the role I was in with a newborn. On Monday of this week, I interviewed for a supervisor position and will be returning to work on two weeks earlier in order to fill the vacant position. While the hours will still be long, and the stress high, this position is much more predictable and conducive to having a newborn at home. I am excited to be returning to work in a new role and thankful in the timing of the opening. I am thankful for my direct supervisor for preparing me for this new role and the mentoring she provided over the past seven months.

I have mixed emotions about leaving Millie and going to work, but I know that she will be in good hands while I’m away and I know that her daddy is close by even when I am at the office up the mountain.

Aren’t they the cutest?!?!

Project Millie’s Life: Week Three

Week three of Millie’s life held more visits from family members, a very rainy Monday (dressed in ducks to celebrate), trying out baby wearing, ventures into the community for food, shopping, and choir practice, and lots of snuggles.

We had so much fun handing out candy last night. It was truly a 3 person job during some points of the night. Our new neighborhood is a destination neighborhood for trick or treating. I loved seeing all of the great costumes and interacting with the polite children.

I tried to wear my little pumpkin in order to have free hands for passing out candy. This set up only lasted about 15 minutes:

Be back tomorrow with week four!!!
